Mint

Vigorous, useful, and genuinely invasive if you put it in a bed.

Mint

Growing

Always in a container. Runners will travel metres underground in a season and are very hard to remove afterwards. Mint likes more water than most herbs.

Harvesting

Cut whole stems near the base rather than picking leaves; the plant regrows faster.

Using

Fresh in salads and drinks, dried for tea. Peppermint and spearmint are different plants with different uses — spearmint for food, peppermint for tea.

Educational content only. Plants, herbs and household chemicals vary by region and product — always check current local guidance and the label in front of you.
